On two acres of blessed land in Gikambura, Kiambu County, the Congregation of the Sisters of the Destitute is creating a Cancer Palliative Care Home — comfort, dignity and care for life's hardest days.
Who We Are
The Sisters of the Destitute began in 1927 in Kerala, India, caring for the poor, the sick and the abandoned. Today more than 1,800 sisters serve across 13 countries.
Now that same mission has arrived in Kenya — beginning with a home for those living with cancer, where comfort and dignity matter most.

To mark 100 years of service, the Sisters are building their first Cancer Palliative Care Home in Kenya — a place of rest, pain relief and companionship for patients and their families.

Planned Facilities
The Cancer Palliative Care Home is planned in phases — Phase 1 delivers the core building, with land reserved for future expansion as the mission grows. The ground floor gathers the chapel, reception and triage, cafeteria, kitchen, convent accommodation and patient rooms around a central courtyard.

The Archbishop of Nairobi donated two acres for the Cancer Palliative Care Home.
Fr. Boniface, Parish Priest of Kikuyu, blessed the land in prayer.
The community gathered to break ground and begin the work.
The architect's outline design was completed (June 2026) and the building footprint is marked out on site.
